Building For Tomorrow
At Rock of Ages Masonry, I believe exceptional masonry is about more than laying brick and stone—it’s about preserving history, respecting traditional craftsmanship and creating work that will stand the test of time.
I’ve built my reputation on precision, attention to detail and a genuine passion for the masonry trade. Whether I’m restoring a century-old home, building a custom fireplace or creating a unique stone feature, I approach every project with the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

About James
Renovations Designed To Make you smile
Whether I’m matching original brick on a heritage home, recreating historic mortar mixes or building something entirely new, I believe every detail matters. Carefully matching brick colour, mortar texture and traditional masonry techniques is an important part of my work and has helped me earn the trust of homeowners, designers, architects and builders throughout Waterloo Region.
I also enjoy taking on challenging masonry projects-the ones that require patience, creativity and experience. For me, preserving the original character of a home is just as important as making sure the repair is structurally sound and built to last.
Since 2000
Built On Experience
While masonry methods have evolved over the years, many historic homes were built using techniques and materials that require specialized knowledge to restore properly.
Over the years, I’ve developed extensive experience working with traditional brick, stone and historic mortar systems. This allows me to restore aging masonry while respecting the original construction and character of the home. My goal is always to create beautiful, long-lasting repairs that blend naturally with the existing masonry.
Whether your project involves a century home, custom fireplace, chimney restoration, stonework or new masonry construction, you can expect quality workmanship backed by experience, integrity and pride in every detail.
Built Around Your Home
Every project starts with understanding the home, the existing masonry, and what you want to achieve. We’ll walk you through the options, recommend materials and methods that suit the property, and help you make informed decisions from start to finish.
Quality Work That Looks Like it Belongs
Good masonry is about more than stone and mortar. It’s understanding the structure, respecting the original character of the property, and knowing how to make new work blend naturally with what’s already there.
